Program Description:

Full integration of mental health and chemical health treatment has been somewhat elusive. Models that have used serial treatment (treating one then the other disorder) or parallel treatment (attend separate treatments in the same time frame) do not achieve full integration. In recent years training programs and some limited treatment programs have been created from the ground up with full integration as the goal. About Dr. Girardeau


Steve Girardeau, Psy.D., L.P., is the Director of Clinical Services of Mental Health Systems, and has been a part of MHS in one capacity or another since 2003. He is an active member of the Minnesota Psychological Association (MPA) legislative and payer committees, a General Member of the MPA Governing Council, and a member of APA, MPA, and ABCT. Dr. Girardeau was the 2017 president of MPA. He has provided psychological services in residential, community mental health centers, private practice and intensive outpatient settings with a wide variety of at risk and underserved clients. Dr. Girardeau has been a member of numerous mental health advocacy focused advisory groups. He is a national trainer on the subjects of DBT and personality disorders for PESI and has presented at local and regional conferences.
