Treatment based on you

Dialectical Behavior Therapy anchors our work

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a skills-based treatment with a dynamic balance of acceptance and change strategies to help people overcome depression, anxiety, addictive behaviors and other challenges.

Our programs give you the tools to decrease the severity of your symptoms, increase your functioning, and realize mental health and well-being.

Build a skillful life

What sets DBT apart is its focus on both acceptance and change, with skills that make a real difference in your life.

Treatment varies from person to person, centered on four main categories of skills:

  • Mindfulness
  • Distress tolerance
  • Emotional regulation
  • Interpersonal effectiveness

Each of these skill sets teaches you how to tolerate and manage mental health symptoms that can include: Mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, borderline personality disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, substance abuse and dependence, and self-harm urges and behaviors among others.

Treatment at every level

At MHS, we offer tailored DBT programming for our clients. This includes both our community-based Day Treatment/Intensive Outpatient DBT and State-certified Adherent DBT. Our Intensive Outpatient DBT provides three hours of daily programming ranging from one day weekly at the lower level of care to three days weekly at the higher level of care.

The program we’ll recommend for you is based on a variety of factors, including the severity of your symptoms and the functional impairment those symptoms cause.

Each level of therapy is offered via our experienced and passionate therapists.
