Therapy for Adolescents

Adolescent DBT - This is not about “moody” teens

Sure, teens can be dramatic—scientifically speaking, that’s why they’re called “teens.” Treatment becomes an option when they’re experiencing more than the typical teenage ups and downs. Therapy is a possibility when everyone is overwhelmed – when you don’t know what to do. MHS is here for the times when your child needs more support and better skills than you can provide. This is no reflection on anyone—awesome families struggled with emotion-based issues.

Schedule

14-18 years old
Meets twice weekly in-person and online via Virtu-Clinic
Once monthly parent involvement

Our Adolescent DBT Program provides comprehensive therapy and skills for both teens and parents. Length of treatment is variable based on medical necessity and goal attainment.

Enhanced life skills

This program helps teenagers, ages 14 to 18, decrease symptoms, maintain safety, and improve quality of life. Our supportive, and challenging, program motivates teens to practice skills in and out of therapy sessions. Adolescents learn abilities such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and life balance.

Our programs are designed to work closely with other providers to ensure our clients receive the highest level of comprehensive mental health services to meet their needs.

Some 18-year-old clients may be eligible for an adult DBT program depending on assessed developmental level and life circumstances.

If your child is 14, the intake assessment will determine whether our Early Adolescent or Adolescent group is the best fit for them.

Give them the skills and strength to be happy
