Clinical Applications of Dual Disorder DBT Interventions - VIRTUAL

This seminar will provide an overview of dialectical behavior therapy foundations and specific DBT skills that can assist in reduction of symptoms and urges. Mental health practitioners will learn to identify concerns with current substance use disorder interventions and identify ways we can improve intervention strategies.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify three concerns associated with current substance use disorder interventions
  • Gain knowledge of DBT and how it supports clients in building a satisfying life
  • Identify at least three ways in which they can integrate DBT skills/interventions into their work with client

Presenter:

Nicole Hewer is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and has her Masters degree from the University of Minnesota in Counseling Psychology. Nicole later returned to finish classes to obtain her LADC as working within the dual disorder population has been something she has been passionate about since beginning in the field. She currently is the Program Coordinator for the Waypoint (Integrated Dual Disorder) Program at Mental Health Systems where she facilitates DBT groups for adults and adolescents, provides individual therapy, completes assessments, and provides supervision. Nicole has been with the organization since 2017. She is passionate about providing evidence-based care to all clients while helps individuals recognize their own strengths to make positive changes in their lives.
