Making Sense of Complex Trauma: Targeted DBT Skills for Stability and Recovery
Get an Introduction to DTMR
Complex trauma can affect how clients feel, think, experience their bodies, behave, and connect with others. When these difficulties overlap, clinicians need a practical way to understand the presentation, prioritize needs, and choose effective interventions.
Join Dr. Lane Pederson, creator of the Dialectical Trauma Recovery Model (DTRM), for a practical introduction to this skills-based framework. Learn to organize trauma-related symptoms using five systems of dysregulation, identify an initial treatment target, and apply RISE—Recognize symptoms, Identify triggers, Skills-based response, and Evaluate outcomes.
Through case examples, demonstrations, and brief practice, participants will explore present-oriented mindfulness and grounding, Check the Facts, and PLEASED. Validation, co-regulation, and adaptation to client capacity are emphasized throughout, helping clinicians translate the framework into focused interventions that support stability and daily functioning.
The training session is from 8:30 am to 11:30 am CST and is eligible for 3 CEUs. Following the training, we will host a catered lunch and networking session.
