Attendees will identify key factors for treatment related to clients along the narcissistic spectrum, incorporate evidence-based techniques to address and change maladaptive and addictive patterns, identify adverse comorbid indicators that derail treatment, and learn strategies to manage transference and countertransference reactions. This workshop helps attendees develop skills to achieve therapeutic gains with narcissistic spectrum clients by learning adaptive relationship skills while minimizing maladaptive relationship pathology and dependency.
Daniel J. Fox, PhD, is a licensed psychologist in Texas, an international speaker, and multi-award-winning author. He has been specializing in the treatment and assessment of individuals with personality disorders for over fifteen years in the state and federal prison system, universities, and in private practice. His specialty areas include personality disorders, ethics, burnout prevention, and emotional intelligence. He has published several articles in these areas, and is author of The Clinician’s Guide to Diagnosis and Treatment of Personality Disorders, the award-winning Narcissistic Personality Disorder Toolbox, the award-winning Antisocial, Borderline, Narcissistic and Histrionic Workbook, and The Borderline Personality Disorder Workbook.
Dr. Fox has been teaching and supervising students for more than fifteen years at various universities across the United States, some of which include West Virginia University, Texas A&M University, University of Houston, Sam Houston State University, and Florida State University. He is currently an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Houston, and maintains a private practice that specializes in the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex psychopathology and personality disorders. Dr. Fox has given numerous workshops and seminars on ethics and personality disorders; personality disorders and crime; treatment solutions for treating clients along the antisocial, borderline, narcissistic, and histrionic personality spectrum; emotional intelligence; narcissistic personality disorder and its impact on children and partners; managing mental health within the prison system; and others.

1. Identify narcissistic personality components and subtypes.
2. Plan treatment trajectories when working with narcissistic clients to enhance therapeutic success.
3. Understand the structure of NPD and its complexities to the treatment environment.
4. Enhance skills to manage narcissistic expressions and its impact on partners and children who participate in treatment.
5. Learn about common challenges and therapeutic blockades when working with individuals along the narcissistic spectrum.
6. Develop skills to minimize maladaptive relationship pathology to help your narcissistic spectrum clients, their partners, and their children learn adaptive relationship skills.
7. Assist your clients to build resistance and resiliency against manipulative behavior often seen in relationships with individuals along the narcissistic spectrum.
8. Differentiate between the different narcissistic spectrum parent types to improve treatment outcomes among their children.
9. Develop effective assessment skills and clinical strategies for effectively treating children of narcissistic spectrum parents.
