Cognitive behavioral therapy is the most empirically supported form of treatment for multiple psychiatric diagnoses and is widely considered the “gold standard” for treating a wide variety of problems encountered by consumers up mental health services. However the demands of today’s health care landscape don’t always lend themselves to following empirically supported protocol to a “T.” Clinicians have become more integrative in their approach and the need to flexibly adapt CBT to meet clients where they are at is greater than ever. Yet There are some core components that make CBT the highly effective treatment that it has been for decades therapists would do well not to abandon. Many clinicians struggle with knowing how to adapt CBT to fit their treatment environment and their clientele without losing the mechanisms of change responsible for positive treatment outcomes. Attend this one day workshop with international CBT expert Dr. Jeff Riggenbach and learn how to incorporate evidence-based techniques into your existing approach in a flexible way without losing complete fidelity to the model.
Dr. Jeff Riggenbach has devoted the past 20 years to practicing and disseminating evidence based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. During that time, he has developed & directed CBT, DBT, & schema focused treatment programs for two different psychiatric hospitals and outpatient clinics treating a wide range of patient populations. He has run CBT specialty based programs for treating depression, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, OCD, and borderline personality disorder. Jeff Is the author of two best-selling books; The CBT Toolbox: A a Workbook for Clients & Clinicians, and the award winning, The BPD Toolbox: An Evidence-Based Guide for Regulating Emotions, which won a silver award in the Benjamin Franklin Book Awards for Small Publishing Companies.
He is a diplomat with the academy of cognitive therapy, a certified cognitive therapist, and most importantly, has 20 years of experience practicing CBT in individual and group settings.
