Elixandra (Ellie) is a postdoctoral fellow at MHS, completing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from Albizu University in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has over four years of experience working with adults and adolescents with severe and persistent mental illness. At MHS, Ellie facilitates a Telehealth Integrated Dual Disorder DBT program for adults struggling with mental illness and chemical dependency and an Adolescent DBT program. She also provides individual therapy and conducts diagnostic assessments. Her therapeutic approach combines dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and a strengths-based perspective. Ellie's favorite thing about working in mental health is using her authenticity, humor, and genuine compassion to provide others with a safe and affirming space as they journey through their healing process and having the opportunity to witness their growth as they build healthy and fulfilling lives.
